Email information on any of these wild things to

August 26, 2003: This plant volunteered by the duck-yard gate, blooming within
a week or so of
its first appearance, despite the fact that we had no rain that week, & the
plant received no special care or attention. That probably means that the plant
could be a real pest. If you looked at this page several days ago, you saw a
close-up of a plant whose bloom, though lovely, was not nearly so impressive as
it is today. If you have any clue as to what we have here, please let
us know!

I've heard this plant called "wild potato vine." It is quite drought tolerant,
crawling over sun-baked sand & blooming just as prolifically there as on this
fence. This plant does not show up in the Audobon Guide to Wildflowers.
NOTE: Only the smooth leaves are a part of the plant in
question -- the ridged leaves are wild blackberry.
