CONNIE'S CHERRY PIE
Tart cherry notes: It seems increasingly difficult to find canned pie cherries
(canned cherry pie filling is not even close to what's needed for this pie).
Dried tart cherries are available from
BulkFoods.com
. These are quite
expensive but can be stored in the freezer for a long time & used in many
different types of recipes (examples: Alton Brown's "Free Range Fruit Cake;
"Alternative filling for Snowball Surprise Cookies).
