MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION
|
The House was built in 1997 on the high east-facing slope of a sand
ridge about 2 miles from (& 70 feet above) the Ogeechee river. This land had
been abused for years, but over the last decade the owners have planted
thousands of trees to develop a healthy young forest. The slope drops off
behind the house, providing a
year-round showcase of the neighbor's pond, wooded wetlands below the pond, and
hillside forests beyond.
There are 3 significant neighbors close to the house:
-
A very quiet, pleasant & polite bachelor living in a cottage about 100 yards
from the house but not visible through the woods,
-
a little church across the road, and
-
The neighbor with the pond - a fireman from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, whose house is
also not visible from this property, & who spends
about 30 days a year here.
This property is located on a good, modestly-traveled paved road that parallels
US 25 (about 5 miles from house) which is in the process of being 4-laned.
